Art can be considered a universal language; any form of art is a great way to express ideas, feelings, beliefs and personal values.

So Can Objects

This artwork is called "My Bed" by Tracey Emin. I saw the exhibition about 3 years ago during an A-level art trip. I was very impressed by it, as I just stood there and looked at every single object on the floor and bed I began to wonder what are they? Why are they here in the bed ? I considered it almost vulgar. Why so many of them? What are they for and what do they represent? Importantly, what has happened to the place and the person?
The artwork generated considerable media furore, particularly over the fact that the bedsheets were stained with body secretions and the floor had items from the artist's room, such as condoms, a pair of underwear with menstrual period stains, other detritus, and functional, everyday objects, including a pair of slippers. The bed was presented as it had been when Emin had left it, after several days, due to suicidal depression brought on by relationship difficulties.
